Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse
The Logitech G5 is a Laser mouse with up to 2000 dpi sensitivity. It comes with an adjustable weight cartridge with eight slots that you can insert either 1.7 gram or 4.5 gram weights in. You can even leave the slots empty if you desire a super lightweight mouse.
The G5 features 2 buttons below the scroll wheel that you can use to adjust your sensitivity on the fly. You can easily change your sensitivity from 400 dpi to 800dpi up to 2000 dpi, depending on your gaming situation. You will always know what sensitivity you're using because there is 3 LED indicator lights. If you're sniping, a lower sensitivity would be ideal, and for using something like a rocket launcher something higher might be a better idea. You can change the dpi settings that the buttons control with the included Logitech Setpoint Software, and even add more than three dpi settings if you would need them for some reason.
The bottom of the mouse features a very smooth gliding surface, ideal for almost any surface. The mouse itself, like most gaming mouse is designed for right handed gamers, and comes in a stylish blue and black design. The left side of the mouse has 2 buttons, used for back and forward navigation while web browsing, and can be customized for any other function.
Personally I love this mouse much more than an optical mouse, because a laser mouse is much more accurate. I do not use a mouse pad, I simply play with the surface of my desk. I have another optical mouse that seems to jump around, especially when I need to aim precisely. I will admit that this is the 2nd G5 I've owned, because my first one stopped working. The mouse one day started cutting in and out, and I could hear the Windows USB connect/disconnect sound, until one day it stopped functioning altogether, however Logitech Tech Support was great! I shot them an email about my problem, and after making sure I wasnt an idiot (ie... checking other USB ports, making sure the correct driver was installed, ect..) they had me send the mouse back to them, and they sent me a brand new one in a new box! I didnt even have a receipt for it. The G5 has a 3 year warranty, and the mouse has not even been out for 3 years yet. Their tech support is great, and has made a Logitech fan out of me :)
Pros: Adjustable weight cartridge makes the mouse an ideal weight for almost anyone. I use the sensitivity adjust level alot during games like Team Fortress 2 and Counterstrike. The Laser is very accurate on almost any surface! The mouse is a good size, compared to the G9 which I think is too big to be a gaming mouse.
Cons: There arent many, I had one break on me, but was sent a replacement free of charge. Leftys are out of luck. The cable is wrapped in a nylon case which tends to make it stick to the back side of my desk, sometimes making it difficult to move the mouse.
Score: 4.5/5
