So... you know what G4TV is eh?

Early on in the day, I got a photo of Chris Hardwick doing interviews with the guys promoting the new Ghostbusters Videogame.  Later on in the day, I stayed at the G4TV Booth while they broadcast live for about 3 hours.

The big news was Steve Weibe attempting to break the Donkey Kong world record, trying to steal it back from Billy Mitchell.  The score to beat was about 1.05 million, he failed in the morning with a score of about 920k.  In his afternoon attempt (also his last attempt) the machine completely died about 250k points into it.  The crowd booed, as this was his final chance to break the record... however because it was beyond his control, he took another crack at it.

The 2nd final attempt ended in a Kill Screen.  If you've watched "The King of Kong" you'll know that a kill screen happens when you reach a certain level (22), and unfortuantely he hadnt beaten the record by then.  He was however given a plaque inducting him into the hall of fame at Fun Spot in Washington.  I watched him play the entire 3 hours, it was amazing, that man is very talented at that game.  He died twice, but by the end of the game, he still had 2 lives remaining.

I also grabbed a few photos of Olivia Munn, Kevin Pereria, and Kristin Holt Adams.  These are of lower quality because I was unable to get very close.  (I got there too late).

Looks like Microsoft and Sony are seriously looking to take down Nintendo's Wii Console. 

Microsoft introduced an early beta for something codenamed Netal...  This is a new device that is looking to completely remove the controller from the equation.  Its tough to explain unless you see it, but it looks like Microsoft is trying to make everything with an easier interface for anyone to play.. not just people who are skilled with a controller.  In addition, Netal can recognize distances, faces, voices and more.  The demo basically showed a real person interacting with a digital character.  Again, difficult to explain.. I'll get a vid or something in a bit.

Sony's PS3 showed an early prototype for a handheld competitor for the WII.  The handheld wand, can be quickly and easily transformed into a device such as a sword, paintbrush, tennis racket, and more!  The device is combined with a video camera to put you in the middle of the game.  The demo showcased the ability to put you into a virtual environment with a very responsive weapon.  Very difficult to explain unless I can show you.  Alvin got some video of it... i'll try to get a video of it by the end of the week.
